Mark Stanford

Professor of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Caparo Innovation Centre, University of Wolverhampton

Professor Mark Stanford is a leading expert in the field of additive layer manufacturing a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build products layer by layer using materials that are in fine powder form. With this expertise in constant demand he works regularly with high-profile organisations, including Formula 1 racing teams, designing and producing parts that only a few years ago would not have been possible to produce by any means.

Mark has published widely in fields of additive layer manufacturing, laser sintering, materials behavior and properties, structural integrity, and machining of metals in inert atmospheres of argon and nitrogen. He has presented at many international conferences, and has been successful in attracting significant research grants to the University. He has been, and continues to be, instrumental in establishing the University’s reputation for innovative product design and development.
