This third appearance in the list, the others being in 2018 and 2017, comes as the company again invests in additional capacity for 2020 at its factory in Spalding, Lincolnshire. This growth is hugely impressive in the current market conditions. Uncertainty around Brexit has so far not dented the UK’s economy, however other worldwide forces are at play, including softness in some emerging markets – a key customer for the company’s products.
Since being taken over by the third generation of the Farrow Family, Charlie Farrow the current MD has transformed the business, introducing a range of modern processes and equipment to reduce the labor cost – something that is expensive in UK markets to make Welland Power more cost competitive than many of its competitors overseas. This drive for cost competitions has seen the factory expand into its current site in Spalding in the UK and buy additional equipment such as CNC machinery. Perkins and Cummins powered generators are popular worldwide and produced by a number of other companies. Welland also has a sister company, Regency, that specializes in UK projects.
Welland Power builds a range of diesel generators, powered by Perkins, Cummins and Baudouin engines. CEO Charlie Farrow said “Its such a great ting to be recognized for your hard work and the hard work of your entire team. Welland Power strives not only to be a successful business, but also to be a great place for every employee to work and grow.” Following on from a Track 100 award in December, the UK business hopes to find new customers and dealers in territories around the world. Its recent launch of an iOS App increases its brand position and will surely drive future success.
