Access Supply Chain will help WSP Textiles maintain high standards of traceability and quality control

Colchester, UK – 31 May 2012 – WSP Textiles, the leading manufacturer of premium billiards cloth and coverings for tennis balls, has invested in Access Supply Chain from mid-market software providers Access. The textile manufacturer was recently subject of a management buy-out, backed by private equity firm Vespa Capital, and needed to put in independent systems throughout the organisation.

Ewen Hamilton, financial controller at WSP Textiles, said, “We had to come off our former parent company’s systems and implement our own IT infrastructure. Some of our accounting is currently done off site at our old head office, so getting access to underlying data can be difficult. By having our own on-premise solution we’ll have better access to real time information, and it will integrate with our Office software, which will be a huge step forward for us.”

The 15 user Access Supply Chain solution will be handling WSP’s financial and manufacturing processes. “We’re going to have easier access to our purchase invoices as they’ll no longer be sent to our old head office. All the information we need is going to be readily available, and we’ll be better able to shape the management information around the needs of the business,” continued Ewen.

Traceability and quality control is a high priority to WSP, with quality control information held on every single piece of cloth produced. “Our different customers have their own individual requirements, which each order has to meet. The documentation we send out with our invoices includes the serial number, dimensions and weight of each piece of cloth. The new solution must produce all the necessary documentation corresponding to the relevant order, keeping the process simple for us.

“When Access Supply Chain was demonstrated we were impressed that it was able to do what we wanted without any additional be-spoking, and we really liked the integration with Microsoft Office, which will simplify our reporting processes. It’s going to be a key asset for us as we move forward as an independent business,” concluded Ewen.
