TRACMASTER FLIES THE FLAG FOR UK MANUFACTURING
Top-selling CAMON groundcare range ‘Made in Britain’ from the wheels up!

Innovative landscape machinery specialist Tracmaster is proud to fly the flag for British manufacturing, producing seven key products of its hugely popular own-brand CAMON range in the UK.

Bucking the perceived trend of a decline in British manufacturing, Tracmaster designs the machines, including an aerator, scarifier, turf cutter, tiller, rotavator, chipper and rock crusher, using 3D CAD software at its headquarters, in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, and employs a combination of in-house facilities and local companies to fabricate the parts. All the assembly is carried out at Tracmaster’s in-house workshops.

Tracmaster previously manufactured its CAMON range outside of the UK, but always looking to continually improve the quality of their service to its customers, brought it back in-house in 2011, maximising the benefits of its home-grown, skilled workforce.

Alex Pitt, director at Tracmaster, comments: “By upskilling our team we have been able to fabricate parts here in the UK more economically than when we were buying them abroad. In-house fabrication also means we are able to adopt a rolling production system, which is both more cost-effective and time-efficient. On many larger components we have been able to deliver a cost saving of 30-40% which has a significant impact on our profitability.”

Originally aimed at the hire industry, Tracmaster uses the CAMON range as a platform to improve, develop and create a larger range of products, keeping it at the cutting edge of the groundcare sector. This innovative approach means the range is now equally popular with professional and domestic users and is also proving successful with overseas markets, including Belgium and Ireland. Looking ahead, Tracmaster aims to develop the export market further.
