Does your company culture stop you from capitalising on your digital data?

The defining product of the digitalisation of manufacturing activities is data. Lots of data. So much data in fact that companies can get swamped by it if their internal culture is not brought into line.

This is ultimately a failure – ‘information poverty’, as it is known.

The goal therefore is to ensure your culture is geared towards using technology to glean the maximum amount of information from your data, and use it to drive your business towards becoming an ‘Intelligent Enterprise’.

That is the name given by software company SAP to describe a business whose activities are connected – and transparent – at every stage, from production to customer service.

Nick Peters, Editorial Director at The Manufacturer discussed this with Jeremy Phelps, Business Value Advisor at SAP during the recent recent Smart Factory Expo 2019
