Why has Liverpool been so successful towards driving investment in manufacturing?

Liverpool City Region is the UK’s largest manufacturing region, supporting 3,000 businesses, 50,000 jobs and contributing £3.2bn annually to the national economy.

It’s one of the reasons why The Manufacturer moved its flagship annual manufacturing events, known as Digital Manufacturing Week, to Liverpool in 2017. It was also because we could feel the tremendous energy around manufacturing in the Liverpool City Region. We sensed a real commitment to help manufacturing companies grow through using digital technologies, driven by the Liverpool City Region LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership).

The Manufacturer’s Nick Peters sat down with Simon Reid, who heads the Advanced Manufacturing section of the LCR LEP, to hear how the region is leading this Fourth Industrial Revolution.
