David Way, chief executive of the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), comments on manufacturing and engineering apprenticeships: “Making things and making things work is what an Apprenticeship in this sector is all about and there are a wide range of Apprenticeships to choose from. The film aims to show just how diverse these opportunities are and encourage more young people to apply for an Apprenticeship.”
Apprenticeship uptake has surged recently across sectors thanks to the Apprentice Grant for Employers, a £1,500 incentive for companies who have not taken on an apprentice for 18 months or more. Data from NAS shows that the AGE incentive has spurred the creation of 18,900 new apprenticeships over nine months.
Furthermore, Semta recently reported that apprenticeship opportunities in manufacturing and engineering firms have increased 85% in the last two years.
