Nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi helped Yamaha celebrate its 60th anniversary last week with a special guest appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Specially invited by Lord March, owner of Goodwood Estate, RossiĀ traveled straight from the Dutch GP, where he won his third race of the season, to make his and Yamaha’s debut at theĀ famous event.
Yamaha Motor showcased its celebrated racing DNA at the event with a lineup of historic roadracers, including the Yamaha RD56 Grand Prix two-stroke and YZR500 (0W23), guided respectively by motorsport legends Phil Read and Giacomo Agostini, and the company’s celebrated 2015 model, the YZR-M1 MotoGP.
Nine-time world champion Rossi tackled the iconic 1.16-mile Hillclimb on his specially colored YZR-M1, delighting a crowd of race fans and motor enthusiasts.
The event, the latest milestone in Yamaha Motor’s 60-year commitment to motorsport, provided the company with an opportune venue for demonstrating its ‘Revs Your Heart’ motto and Japanese-inspired ‘Kando’ philosophy of experiencing thrill when encountering immense value.
