The first ever event dedicated to The Quorum Principle™ will take place in London and will be entitled ‘Radical Collaboration: The key to unlocking manufacturing value.’
The event will be taking place at the Royal Lancaster on Friday 16th May 2025.
Held over one day, it will follow a unique format, centered around a proposed new, collaborative model for global manufacturing. This event will be primarily focussed towards C-Suite and senior manufacturing leaders.
Over 20 solution providers from the domains of Strategy, IT, OT, Operational Excellence and Industry 4.0 will join to create a unified vision of manufacturing. The Quorum Principle™ was created by John Robinson, and his journey has been followed closely by us at The Manufacturer.
Before starting his own company, Neotrez, in 2023, John’s career included senior roles at Kearney, SAP, EY, Atos and Aveva as well as roles in automation systems integration. He also has over ten years of experience in manufacturing.
John says it was this “slightly unusual” career that enabled him to identify a systemic problem in global manufacturing.
The solution, as he sees it, is a complete realignment of the traditional global manufacturing model, a paradigm shift that would see manufacturing organisations change the way they engage with their vendor partners.
Additionally, solution providers need to realise that they are selling to a complex system that is the manufacturer. They alone don’t hold the cure to a company’s problems. Rather, they must collaborate with other vendors and ensure every need of the manufacturer is met.
Since 2020, John has presented The Quorum Principle globally. Having created significant momentum and international interest in the concept, he was able to launch the ‘UK Manufacturing Initiative’ last year, where a group of vendors stated their openness to working within the new model.
At the end of last year, while on his annual tour of events, John was asked if he would like to organise an event dedicated solely to The Quorum Principle.
“This event will be unique in a number of ways,” said John.
“All the keynotes and panel discussions will be aligned. Often at these sorts of events, different companies and individuals will put across their view on what smart manufacturing should be. It can leave delegates feeling more confused than when they first arrived.
“At this event, a clear picture will be presented. From the keynotes through to the networking areas. Vendors will be cross-referencing each other rather than competing with another for sales leads.”
John says that the event will also provide a chance to visually witness how The Quorum Principle will work.
A bulk of the day will focus on a fictional manufacturer’s three-to-four year transformation journey.
“Every element that you find within a manufacturer will be represented in a digital twin of a factory. All the way through the factory, delegates will be able to see how each vendor interacts with the manufacturer and helps them with a particular specialism.
“It’s fantastic that we have been able to get 20-30 vendors together to work in this way. We now just need to convince the manufacturer that this way of working benefits everyone.”
Registrations for the London event in May will be on a first come first serve basis.
