Vince Cable discusses the importance of UK enterprise

Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable, visited BAE Systems’ Samlesbury site and spoke about the importance of manufacturing to the UK economy.

The high-technology manufacturing and aerospace facility has seen a 2% rise in orders despite BAE posting an overall 10% fall in first half sales this year.

BAE manufacture nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers and armored vehicles. Cable was taken on a tour of Semelsebury, where BAE produce the fifth-generation multirole F-35 and twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole Eurofighter Typhoon.
