25 jobs created as tooling and automation company expands

Expert Tooling and Automation is building a 30,000 sq ft new factory at Rainton Bridge.

The company opened in Washington with just two employees six years ago. It is now a multi-million pound turnover business with more than 40 full-time staff, designing and building machines.

It has customers including Jaguar Landrover, Nissan, Mini, Aston Martin, McLaren, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Gestamp Tallent, Calsonic Kansei and TRW, and GE Oil & Gas.

All project management, design and development staff and have a huge assembly area to enable large, complex machines to be designed, built and tested at the new plant at Rainton Bridge Industrial Estate.

Operations director Dave Bartell, said: “Rainton Bridge is a great location for us, close to a number of automotive companies.

“We’ve been involved in all stages of the design of the new premises, which will provide all the staff with a great, purpose-built place to work.”

Sunderland City Council deputy leader Coun Harry Trueman said: “We are proud to have helped support Expert Tooling’s growth, and provide the land on which it can build its new plant.”
