A Greater Manchester furniture manufacturer is celebrating a record year during its 40th anniversary.

Gresham Office Furniture is celebrating its 40th year of business by announcing that turnover is up by 8 per cent over the past year. The company has rebranded, launched new products and has expanded into additional markets.

The firm began life in a shed in Bolton back in 1976, now occupies a 180,000 sq ft manufacturing centre and headquarters in Horwich. Gresham now employs 300 members of staff.

Julian Roebuck, managing director of the company said, “Gresham was launched by my father-in-law 40 years ago with a concept design for a new desk.

“Since then the business has grown steadily making a name for itself in the contracts furniture market and now manufactures over 9,000 desks, workplace chairs, tables, screens and storage solutions per week.

“However, in reaching this latest milestone we felt it was time to make some exciting changes to help drive the business forward. The introduction of new branding and the Gresham Design Collection, we hope will be a more attractive proposition for the architect and interior design community, a market that we have previously had limited success in.”

As part of the firms 40th anniversary celebrations it has introduced a new bespoke service so that clients can commission one off, bespoke pieces. Gresham has also invested £1.4m in the production plant in the form of state-of-the-art equipment to help improve quality quality, along with that the firm has also acquired an adjacent site at Platinum Park in order to help continue the growth the firm has seen recently over the coming years.
