Midlands-headquartered PPS Equipment Services Ltd has acquired Alison Handling Services, the UK’s largest independent stockist of returnable plastic packaging following £500,000 in working capital from Santander Corporate & Commercial.
The deal will see the leader in returnable transit packaging industry expand its footprint with the acquisition of Alison Handling Services’ (AHS) Lancashire site.
Based at two sites in the UK – Marchington in the Midlands, and Grimsby in the North East – PPS as a group has been providing returnable plastic packaging and container solutions for more than a decade.
The acquisition of AHS aims to allow PPS to offer full sale, rental and service solutions to customers across the UK with three strategically located sites and become a ‘one stop shop’ for reusable packaging and storage solutions.
Along with the acquisition of AHS, the £500,000 in working capital from Santander Corporate & Commercial – along with £4.9m from the Business Growth Fund – will also help the group to expand the range of services available to customers of both PPS and AHS.
Chief executive of PPS, David Peggie commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with excellent team at Alison Handling Services and look forward to growing our footprint in the North West with such an innovative business.”
Relationship director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, Debbie Partridge added: “We are delighted to provide funding to support the expansion of PPS at this key time for the company.
“The management team have identified a strong opportunity for growth and we have been able to provide the funding and support to help PPS capitalise. It’s clear that the company is primed for further growth and we wish them every success.”
