A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm has again been recognised for its sustainable and socially responsible practices.

Birmingham-headquartered adi Group was awarded the Gold EcoVadis Medal, after the company showed its ability to effectively address sustainability criteria, including environment, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement, through a formal assessment.

The accolade places adi Group in the top 5% of businesses worldwide that have successfully demonstrated their adherence to sustainable practices, and in the top 2% of companies rated in the same industry.

Commenting on the milestone, founder and chairman Alan Lusty said: “We are thrilled to have again achieved such a prestigious accreditation. Sustainability and social responsibility are something we have consistently prioritised as a business, and we are proud to see our continued efforts have wielded such a positive result. Earning this medal is a testament to our dedication to creating a sustainable and ethical business model that benefits our clients, employees and communities.”

With over 34 years of industry experience, adi Group integrates sustainability into its operations through a strategic focus on people, community, supply chain, environment and diversity.

As part of its robust responsible business strategy, adi Group has pledged to achieve Net Zero by 2045, electrify 50% of its new vehicle fleet by 2035 and transition to 100% electrification by 2040.

Among the key achievements that contributed to this accolade are a 5.29% reduction in carbon intensity per employee in 2023, the implementation of a Climate Change Policy aligned with the Paris Agreement and a partnership with BP Target Neutral, having now offset over 11,500 tonnes of CO2e since 2015.

In addition to environmental initiatives, the company is also leading the way in youth skills development with its award-winning Apprentice Academy and pre-apprenticeship programme, creating robust avenues into engineering for young students.

And the firm is particularly active in the area of community wellbeing, having raised over £130,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity to date as well as supporting other local charities by engaging in a plethora of fundraising activities.

This achievement complements other accolades received by adi Group, including receiving the RoSPA Health and Safety Gold Medal Award and earning third place in Best Companies’ ‘Best UK Construction & Engineering Companies to Work For’ 2024 list.
