Airbus orders likely to diminish

New aircraft orders are likely to decrease significantly during 2008 for aerospace manufacturer Airbus.

Following record orders of 1,341 planes last year, the company expects to sell just 700 units in 2008.

“The market, in terms of new orders, will be going down,” said John Leahy, Airbus’ chief salesman. “We have a record backlog so I would expect to see fewer and fewer orders as the market cools off a bit.”
