Airbus announced a landmark order for 20 A380s with leading lessor Doric Lease Corp, signed today at the 50th Le Bourget Airshow.
Mark Lapidus, CEO of Doric Lease Corp and John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer, customers, signed the agreement worth $8.1bn.
Lapidus hailed the prospects the aircraft will offer for Doric.
“We will be able to provide turn-key A380 ownership solutions to airlines, allowing them to benefit from operating this fantastic aircraft.
“The A380 offers airlines a great opportunity to provide a superior product and travel experience while strengthening revenue generation. We are delighted to be part of the long term success of the A380.”
The deal boosts Airbus’ efforts to reach a target of 25 A380 orders this year, having failed to secure any contracts in the first five months.
Airbus also received a further order for 50 additional A320neo Family aircraft from ILFC.
The deal with aircraft lessor ILFC increases the original order placed in 2011 for 100 aircraft.
