Aeronautics, space and defence company, Airbus, has announced two changes to its senior management team.
Jean-Pierre Talamoni, 58, has been appointed as executive vice president Marketing & Sales for Airbus Defence, where he will become a member of the Executive Committee of Airbus Defence and Space and report to Bernhard Gerwert, the division’s CEO.
Talamoni will replace Christian Scherer, 53, who will take over Talamoni’s current position as head of Airbus Group International. Scherer will report to Marwan Lahoud, Airbus Group chief strategy and marketing officer.
Lahoud said of the appointments: “This swap of roles is of great benefit to Airbus Group.
“With Jean-Pierre’s strong background in defence, having been the top salesman at MBDA for many years, as well as his international experience with institutional and private customers all over the globe, he is ideally positioned to lead the continued globalisation efforts of Airbus Defence and Space.
“The same accounts for Christian, whom I am very happy to welcome in my team.
“Known as one of the brains behind the A320neo, his particularly strong and decades-long knowledge of the commercial business will help us to drive the Group’s internationalisation strategy in the coming years.”
Gerwert added: “Christian was a great contributor to the creation of Airbus Defence and Space, in particular with his broad international and commercial background.
“I’m pleased to have Jean-Pierre now with me to execute our global market strategy for our core business.”
Both appointments will become effective on September 1 2015.
