Airbus has ended its talks with the Germany-based OHB and MT Aerospace consortium over the possible sale of three of its German sites.
The firm held the economy responsible for the failure of the sale, saying that “the volatility of the financial markets and a [weak] dollar have created difficult market conditions that are not conducive to an easy and smooth implementation of this process.”
Airbus remains committed to its restructuring plans, however, and is continuing to pursue the sale of its sites in Nordenham, Varel and Augsburg.
Talks are also in progress over the partial sale of the Filton facility, which would involve the 1,800-worker manufacturing division, and the futures of two French sites are also in question.
