AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK has been awarded the UK Top Employer for 2014, the second consecutive year it has won the prize.
The accolade for the paints and coatings company has been awarded by the Top Employers Institute, the international certification body for employers.
It recognises businesses around the world providing the highest standards in human resources, based on global research and independent auditing, and found AkzoNobel demonstrated excellent employee conditions and programmes to nurture and develop talent.
Philippa Kramer, AkzoNobel’s Northern Europe regional HR director, said the honour is further recognition of the company’s investment in its employees.
“Our business is all about inspiration and part of that is our goal to be a Top Employer providing room for each of our people to grow, develop and engage with us,” he said.
“This is therefore a great accolade and one which I hope builds pride and passion across the business.”
The Decorative Paints division is the largest business within AkzoNobel in the UK, employing over 1,800 people and home to multiple iconic brands including Dulux, Polycell, Cuprinol and Sikkens.
Eleanor Nickerson, manager of UK Operations for Top Employers Institute, added: “We’re seeing a heavier focus on succession planning, in particular with companies developing their current and future leadership.
“Many of our certified companies have developed creative and inclusive leadership programmes that help to develop their top talent and ensure that it’s a win-win situation – you have engaged employees who have an exciting and rewarding career path ahead of them, and organisations with talented, long-term leadership that’s aligned with their business.”
