Alumet Renewable Technologies was awarded the Rising Star Award at the Energy Innovation Awards, held in Manchester on June 23. Lee Summers, technical director of solar panel specialists EOS Energy and parent company Alumet Renewable Technologies, collected the prize.
In front of a packed audience at the Hilton Hotel, Summers was recognised for fronting Alumet’s successful venture into renewable technologies, in particular the company’s EOS Energy brand which is making big waves in the solar power market.
EOS will shortly complete the installation of a £3 million solar farm in Cornwall and the company has just been given the go ahead to install a 50k/w photovoltaic array on Coventry Cathedral, working in partnership with the Cathedral and RETA (Renewable Energy Technology Alliance). Coventry’s will be the first cathedral in the UK to have photovoltaic panels installed on the actual roof.
The Energy Innovation Awards recognise the achievements of individuals and organisations across the UK, flying the flag for energy, innovation and sustainability. Summers said: “I am overjoyed to receive this prestigious accolade and feel incredibly excited about the future of the Alumet Group, it really has been a fantastic team effort.”
This isn’t the only award the Alumet Group has won. In just 10 days the company also collected The Green Apple Award, for the second year in succession, and was named Company of The Year by the Confederation of Construction Specialists (CCS).
The CCS Awards were held on June 17 at RAF Club in Piccadilly, London. Unlike the majority of industry awards which require applicants to submit a written summary of their achievements, this prize does not accept entries and is awarded directly by the CCS Board.
Dusty Brough of the CCS commented: “We at the CCS consider Alumet to be a perfect example of an excellent specialist contractor and they deserve to be named Member of The Year. I attended their Open Day in 2010 and it was one of the highlights of my year. I’m looking forward to attending this year’s Community Open Day in July and witnessing some of their latest achievements first hand.”
The company’s Open Day will be held on July 15th between 10am and 2pm and is open for everyone to attend, including members of the public. The day will be themed around community spirit, with over 20 businesses from the local area showcasing their products.
