Luxury British car maker Aston Martin has created a chief financial officer role and appointed former Rolls-Royce Motor Cars man Hanno Kirner to fill it.

Kirner, 39, has spent the last five years serving as director for finance & IT at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and he has previously had senior jobs at BMW Group.

Aston Martin chief executive, Dr Ulrich Bez, said: “Hanno brings a broad range of experience at a global level in the luxury automotive industry and I am very pleased to welcome him to Aston Martin. Hanno will play a key role in helping us to continue to build and grow a strong, global and independent Aston Martin business in the future.”

Aston Martin’s global headquarters is in Gaydon, Warwickshire. As of October, registrations of new models this year were down 12 per cent on 2009 figures.
