Babcock International has won Employer of the Year at the recent British Ex-Forces in Business Awards.

Thie award recognises Babcock’s biggest ever year for veteran recruitment and the design and launch of its brand-new strategy for attracting service leavers. The result has been a rise in veteran and reservist hiring success, with over 1,250 new service leavers joining us since January 2023.

The Ex-Forces in Business Awards is the world’s largest celebration of ex-military in second careers – recognising the value veterans add to businesses, as well as the employers that support the transition of servicemen and women.

Brian Kitchener, Head of Insights for Babcock’s DSG business in its Land Sector was also recognised for his work, winning the Team Leader of The Year Award at last night’s ceremony.

This year Babcock sponsored the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year Award, which was presented to deserving winner, Allsports Coaches Coaching Academy CIC.

Given the nature of Babcock’s work, it has a longstanding history of recruiting and developing careers of service leavers. The prestigious Great British Employers of Veterans programme also announced yesterday that Babcock has been ranked third in its 2024 Top 50 employers for the UK Armed Forces community.

Babcock said it is proud to be a major employer of service leavers and reservists through its active recruitment approach, holding a Gold Award in the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme. It’s estimated that 16% of the company’s total workforce has some form of connection to the armed forces, whether as a leaver, reservist, or as a member of a forces family.

This great news tops off a busy Armed Forces Week, where Babcock has reaffirmed its support of military personnel across the UK and celebrating working side by side with the armed forces community to create a safe and secure world, together.
