Mike Turner, chief executive of BAE Systems, has spoken out in his company’s defence following the launch of a court case to investigate corruption claims.

Appearing on the Sky Jeff Randall Live programme, Turner described the accusations as having gone too far, and having come from “a small portion of the UK media and minority groups who have a strange distorted view of the world”. He also deemed the High Court case as damaging for the country.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigation follows claims that BAE Systems operated a slush fund to increase its chances of securing a £43 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia in 1985.
