Boardlink consolidates UK manufacturing businesses

Boardlink Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with the consolidation of several of its businesses, as well as major financial investment, to become a single trading and manufacturing company, Boardlink Ltd.

Boardlink specialises in carton board sales, conversion and lamination, all of which are manufactured at its ISO, BRC and FSC accredited facility just outside of Chester in Hawarden, North Wales.

Employing more than 100 staff from the region, the privately owned, £22.5m turnover company is also the largest carton board press forming manufacturer of paper plates and dual-ovenable board trays in the UK, as well as manufacturing a wide range of catering and janitorial wipes and wiper cloths.

Boardlink Ltd formerly traded as Deva Hawarden Board and Display until October 2016 and merged with its sister company, Paperboard Products in January 2017. The company celebrates 50 years of trading in 2017 and the consolidation also marks 10 years since current owners – the Lyon family – purchased the group of businesses.

According to the company, the announcement is supported by a recent £4.5m reinvestment that includes the purchase of the manufacturing and storage facilities, totalling 350,000 sq ft.

Managing director of Boardlink, Ben Still commented: “This exciting consolidation not only makes our branding clearer, stronger and more succinct, it also enables Boardlink to provide greater clarity on the products and services that we offer to carton board mills, printers, ready meal manufacturers and retailer’s.

“Over the last ten years, we have actively merged the operational and management activities and with the recent investment, it was the right time to merge the remaining businesses and trade as one company to the market place. We have an exciting year ahead and are fully committed to the future of this fast evolving business.”
