A Bristol-headquartered engineering and manufacturing business has bolstered its leadership team with a trio of key appointments which will strengthen its position in the manufacturing sector.
Bedminster-based Avon Group says the move will boost its growth trajectory as the company aims to expand its global reach and break through the £100m sales barrier for the first time.
Stephen Thomas, currently Sales and Purchasing Director, has been promoted to Joint Managing Director, sharing day-to-day leadership with Group Director Mark Rushin. The move reflects Thomas’s extensive experience in the engineering sector, spanning over 30 years, including leadership roles at Foam Techniques Ltd before joining Avon Group.
“Stephen’s promotion marks a pivotal step in Avon Group’s development,” said Rushin. “With his expertise and leadership, we are firmly on course to meet every challenge and fulfil the company’s vast potential.”
Following Thomas’s elevation, Greg Smith has stepped into the role of Sales Director. Smith brings a broad industrial background and a strong record of building high-performing teams that deliver growth.
Meanwhile, Vince Minchella has been promoted from Commercial Manager to Managing Director of Avon Engineered Rubber, a key division of Avon Group and the exclusive global supplier of stem and cup seal gaskets.
Together, the three executives will lead Avon Group, which is recognised as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aerosol gaskets and producers of automotive components, sealing, insulation, acoustic, filtration, and protection products.
Thomas described his new role as “a fantastic opportunity to help guide Avon Group, which has built a tremendous reputation under Mark’s leadership. The dedication of our colleagues across the group is the foundation of our success, and I look forward to driving continued growth alongside Mark.”
Smith added: “Avon Group is fortunate to have an exceptional sales team whose technical expertise has been key to our organic growth. I’m excited to optimise our sales capabilities across the group and help maximise opportunities for expansion.”

Founded in 1979 as Avon Gasket Manufacturing, Avon Group now comprises nine UK-based manufacturing businesses with offices in Bristol, the South West, the Midlands, and Wales, along with sales and technical bases in the United States and Malaysia.
