Energy engineering solutions provider BRUSH Group has acquired D K Moriarty, strengthening its UK manufacturing capabilities and bringing specialist instrument transformer production in-house as it looks to bolster supply chain resilience.
The acquisition adds the Colchester-based manufacturer, which has designed and manufactured current transformers (CTs), voltage transformers (VTs) and bespoke instrument transformer solutions since 1968, to BRUSH’s growing portfolio of UK engineering businesses.
BRUSH said the deal expands its domestic manufacturing footprint while giving the company greater control over a critical part of its supply chain. The move is also expected to enhance its ability to deliver integrated power engineering solutions for customers across the energy, industrial and commercial sectors.
Nicolas Pitrat, CEO of BRUSH Group, said the acquisition supports both the company’s long-term growth strategy and wider investment in UK manufacturing.

He added that bringing the business into the group would strengthen BRUSH’s technical capabilities while improving lead times and manufacturing capacity.

Founded almost six decades ago, D K Moriarty manufactures instrument transformers used in the measurement and protection of electrical networks, supporting the safe and reliable operation of power infrastructure.

The acquisition forms part of BRUSH’s wider growth strategy as it expands its capabilities to support grid resilience, industrial electrification and the transition to a lower-carbon energy system. D K Moriarty will continue operating from its Colchester manufacturing facility following the completion of the deal.
