The BBC is seeking manufacturing firms that are looking to drive up productivity to feature in a new television programme series.
‘The Beeb’ wants to send business academic Dr Paul Thomas into struggling factories to assess processes and workforces with the aim of improving productivity by up to 300 per cent. The journey will be documented in the show which is planned to air on BBC 2.
Dr Thomas has been working with FTSE companies, small businesses and government departments to turn things around during the recession. Working around the company’s existing commitments, Dr Thomas’s ultimate goal will be increased profits, reduced costs and a fully committed workforce, at no charge to the company.
The series is being orchestrated by Nick Andrews, a producer from the BBC’s Factual Department.
“His (Thomas’s) methods are not a new management fad or wonder theory; they are tried and tested in the real world, and grounded in experience, academic research and theory,” said Andrews. “He believes that any company, small or large, struggling or profitable, could benefit from adopting his techniques.”
