BBC journalists visited automotive manufacturer Cab Automotive this morning as part of a new series of live reports from the factory floor.

Cab – which recently featured in TM – is a West Midlands-based SME manufacturer supplying primarily to the automotive industry. Diversification however, means that the company now also has good rail and marine contracts.

BBC Breakfast and BBC News Channel visited Cab to discuss its success in the last 18 months and discover how it is beating the recession.

Managing director, John Faulkner, related the company’s plans to build on this success in the future and reported on progress with the company’s recruitment drive.

Mr Faulkner highlighted Cab’s immediate need for NPI, quality and manufacturing engineers to support growth plans.

SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt, and Coventry University Business School’s Professor of International Business Strategy and Economics David Bailey were also interviewed.

The programme went to air at 6am this morning and will be viewable for those who missed it on BBC iPlayer.

Look out for TM July including insight into building capability in the automotive supply chain from Richard McCulloch, finance director at Cab Automotive.
