Sir Mike Rake, the new president of the CBI, urged the government to tackle the aviation capacity crisis immediately, saying that a third runway at Heathrow is a “no-brainer”.
“I’m not sure how much longer we can delay aviation capacity decisions, because we could have built a third runway the amount of time we’ve spent discussing it. It’s been going on, what, five, six years? But from my personal perspective, it’s a no-brainer,” he said.
Sir Mike also called for a second runway to be built at Gatwick.
A few days ago, the CBI commented on the Davies review on aviation, saying it would agree with any solution that would secure cross-party support and ensure growth.
