HP Bulmer has been fined £300,000 following the fatal outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease at its Hereford site in 2003.
The firm’s water treatment contractor Nalco has received a matching fine for its part in the tragedy.
Judge Alistair McCreath described the failure to adequately clean two cooling towers at the Bulmer site as “almost beyond belief”.
Both Bulmer and Nalco admitted breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act.
