The Food and Drink Federation revealed the final shortlist for the Community Partnership Awards 2012, late last week.
Following an extensive judging process by industry experts the companies shortlisted for the 2012 Awards were confirmed as:
Adelie Food Group, apetito, Border Biscuits, Burtons, Cargill, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca Cola Great Britain, General Mills, Kelloggs, Mars Food, Mars Chocolate UK, Midlands Co-operative, Morrisons, Nestlè, Thorntons Budgens, Typhoo, Unilever, United Biscuits, Warners Retail Ltd, William Jackson Food Group and Wrigley’s.
Commenting on the judging process John Stevenson MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing and chair of the Community Partnership Awards judging panel said that the shortlisting process this year had been the toughest session he had ever been involved with.
“The standard of entries was very high,” commented Mr Stevenson. He praised the companies for “developing groundbreaking projects in their communities and amongst their own workforce” and was especially enthusiastic about the number of entries for the apprentice of the year. He asserted that this “shows the work that is being done to train and up-skill people throughout the industry and bring forward the next generation of scientists and engineers that we need in food and drink manufacturing.”
Alongside the CPA’s established categories of: Apprentice of the Year, Education, Environment, Good Employer, Health and Wellbeing and Local Community, three new categories have been added for 2012. These are: Export Success of the Year, Growing Business of the Year and Developing Skills for the Future – a category dedicated to innovative recruitment and retention activities.
All winners will be announced at the Globe Theatre, London on Wednesday 24 October 2012.
