Compressor manufacturer first to achieve coveted certification

Atlas Copco has become the only compressor manufacturer to receive ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems certification from Lloyds Register.

The firm has achieved this for its production facility in Antwerp, Belgium, which manufactures oil-free air compressors, blowers and air treatment products.

ISO 22000 specifies the requirements for a food safety management system where an organisation in the food chain needs to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption.

Due to 90% of food processing companies using compressed air in some form, Atlas Copco has worked towards the certification; which is a mandatory requirement for any company involved in the food manufacture.

General manager of Atlas Copco Compressors UK said: “This certification gives our customers in the food and beverage industry extra confidence and peace of mind that they are working with a supplier who conforms to the latest international standards.

“By achieving ISO22000 certification Atlas Copco is setting a benchmark for good practice in the compressed air industry, which provides our customers with assurances about quality, safety and reliability.”
