A new contract secured by automotive engine manufacturer Cosworth Engineering is likely to create up to 70 new direct jobs and up to 200 for suppliers.

The contract, for a so far unnamed performance vehicle builder, will see Cosworth making engine components for the company out of a new factory in Northampton.

Cosworth Engineering Chief Executive Hal Reisiger told the BBC today that the expansion would begin in June 2014.

Further announcements detailing the new facility are expected next month.
