Rolls-Royce secures significant engine order from Cathay Pacific

Rolls-Royce has announced that Cathay Pacific has agreed to place an order for 60 Trent 7000 engines that will power 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

At the same time the airline has signed a TotalCare service agreement that will cover the fleet. More via The Manufacturer

University of Nottingham launches £5.3m programme to enable cryogenic hydrogen-electric propulsion flight

The University of Nottingham has kicked-off a £5.3m programme of research to support the development, manufacture and test of a revolutionary cryogenic hydrogen-electric propulsion system.

This is part of a pioneering £44m project led by GKN Aerospace, partnered with Parker Meggitt and the Universities of Manchester and Nottingham, supported by the UK Government through the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) programme. More via The Manufacturer

Carbon fibre factory ‘could create 400 jobs’

A carbon fibre production factory planned for Grimsby could employ almost 400 people by 2030.

The factory, proposed for brownfield land at Humber Gate, off Energy Park Way, has been proposed by LeMond Carbon UK Ltd. More via BBC News

County Durham manufacturer GT Emissions Systems snapped up by new owners

A County Durham manufacturer has been sold to new owners in an undisclosed deal.

Peterlee based GT Emissions Systems has been snapped up by UK private equity fund Rcapital Partners, following an agreement with former owners Knorr-Bremse. The company supplies leading manufacturers with emission control systems for diesel engines in on- and off-highway vehicles, helping diesel engine manufacturers to meet international emission standards that apply to them. The manufacturing industry has the highest staff tenure in the UK, with employees remaining with a company for an average of 5.3 years, according to a new study into employee retention. More via The Manufacturer

American giant seals deal for specialist manufacturer

A family-owned manufacturer of butyl tapes has been bought by American adhesive giant H.B. Fuller.

HS Butyl, based in Lymington, is the UK’s largest manufacturer and distributor of high-quality butyl tapes and exports to more than 50 countries. More via The Business Desk
