A group of manufacturers are urging the government to put manufacturing first and ensure it has the support and funding it needs to become more sustainable. The Manufacturing Assembly Network (MAN), a group of seven sub-contract manufacturers and an engineering design agency, is highlighting the long-term lack of a coherent industrial strategy that they believe is holding the sector back. Ian Byrne, the Founder and CEO of Route Assembly, has posted on LinkedIn that Route Assembly has acquired Pipedream Cycles, the Scottish brand best known for their steel hardtails and adventure bikes. Their goal is to bring bike production back to British shores in the next year. More via LinkedIn
AI projects backed by £32m to turbocharge productivity
Almost 100 new projects will use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve productivity across the economy.
The 98 projects include improving safety on construction sites, reducing time spent repairing the railways and cutting emissions across supply chains. More via UK Research and Innovation
Bakkavor’s decarbonisation progress supported by validation of net-zero targets
In a significant milestone in Bakkavor Group plc’s climate and decarbonisation strategy, the Science Based Target’s initiative (SBTi) has approved the Group’s suite of net-zero science-based targets.
