Aviramp strikes gold with Olympic order

Award-winning UK aviation specialist Aviramp has struck gold with its latest order – to supply special boarding ramps to help athletes arriving in France for the Paralympic Games.

The order – to supply four of the company’s Regional ramps for use at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris – is part of a bumper May order book for Aviramp. More via The Manufacturer

A Cheshire-based business is cementing its place as a world-leader in manufacturing analogue film following a multi-million-pound investment in innovation, as demand continues to swell for traditional forms of photography.

Dyson to axe around 1,000 jobs in Britain

Vacuum cleaner manufacturer Dyson will cut about 1,000 jobs in Britain, more than a quarter of its workforce in the country, as part of a global restructuring.

The company, founded by James Dyson, the inventor of the bagless cleaner, employs 3,500 people in Britain, including at its R&D centre in Malmesbury, west England. More via Reuters

Britain’s automotive sector is today urging the new Labour government to use the industry’s decarbonisation success to the UK’s economic advantage, as a new report shows direct carbon emissions from vehicle factories halved over the past 25 years – helping position the country as the ideal place to produce the next generation of zero emission vehicles. UK-based Unum Aircraft Seating takes off with €4.1m to scale business class seats manufacturing capacity

Unum Aircraft Seating, a UK-based manufacturer of business class seats, has raised €4.1m with participation from ACF Investors. Founded in 2020 by a team with decades of experience in cabin product and seat development, Unum recently received regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and moved its operations to a new London Gatwick factory facility.

The funding will enable Unum to accommodate business growth, expand its team, and further research and development of new manufacturing processes. More via EU-Startups
