JCB receives £17m order from leading equipment hirer

A leading equipment hirer has invested in £17 million worth of new JCB machines as the company prepares to mark its 20th birthday.

Plant Hire UK was founded in 2005 and since that time has placed more than £200 million worth of orders with JCB – equivalent to more than 5,000 new JCB machines. The latest order for more than 300 machines includes a range of JCB Loadalls, tracked excavators and site dumpers. More via JCB

Tata ‘very close’ to securing £500mn of state aid for UK’s largest steelmaking plant

India’s Tata Group said it was “very close” to a deal that will release £500mn of UK taxpayers’ money to support greener steelmaking at its main British plant, in the first test of Labour’s industrial policy.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chair of the holding company for the Indian conglomerate, told the Financial Times that Tata, which also owns the UK-based Jaguar Land Rover car brand, was planning more investments in Britain. More via Financial Times

Siemens Mobility boosts local employment with record apprentice intake

Label manufacturer acquired out of administration

Schades, a supplier of POS rolls and labels, and subsidiary of Harbour Investment GmbH in Germany, has acquired Hamilton Adhesive Labels (HAL) out of administration

HAL, a Leicestershire-based private label manufacturer, has been working with brands across the UK and Europe for over 32 years, including some of the largest household brands. More via East Midlands Business Link
