Oxford Mini Plant: New Mini Cooper launched
A new petrol Mini has been launched, though the brand’s plans to be fully electric are still on target, the plant’s director has said.
The fifth generation Mini Cooper has started production at the Mini plant in Cowley, Oxford.
Dr Markus Grüneisl said the Mini line was “in the middle” of a “transformation” but that electric Minis would be made onsite from 2026. More via BBC News

More good news for UK’s first space port
Following the UK government’s recent announcement to provide £10m of funding For SaxaVord, the UK’s first space port, another key milestone has been achieved in the evolution of the Scottish space industry.
High Growth Scotland reports today that Hyimpluse, one of two German companies contracted to launch from SaxaVord has been granted its first flight license by the UK CAA. More via Scottish Business News
Private equity syndicate swoops for West Midlands manufacturer
Elite KL, a West Midlands-based specialist thermal management business, has been acquired by a private equity syndicate. The company provides specialist services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electric vehicle battery thermal management for customers in the automotive, rail and construction sectors. Rivelin Robotics to lead Innovate UK’s post-processing project
Rivelin Robotics, a UK-based robotics software company, is leading a funded project that is set to deliver automated finishing of flight parts, orthopedic implants, and gas turbine components produced using metal additive manufacturing processes.
The project is part of the UK Research and Innovation’s MSI Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the Economic and Social Research Council. More via Voxel Matters
