BAE Systems announces proposed acquisition of Ball Aerospace
BAE Systems plc has announced that it has entered into a definitive Stock Purchase Agreement to acquire the Ball Aerospace business from Ball Corporation for c.$5.55bn in cash, subject to customary closing adjustments. The proposed stock transaction will be treated as an asset purchase for federal tax purposes, with an expected net present value tax benefit of c.$750m making the underlying economic consideration for the business c.$4.8bn. Hydrogen equipment maker ITM hails ‘tangible progress’ on recovery
UK hydrogen equipment maker ITM Power said it was making “tangible progress” on its turnaround as it posted annual revenues that beat expectations following a string of profit warnings in the past 12 months.
The Sheffield-based manufacturer of electrolysers used to produce green hydrogen, which is central to global ambitions to cut carbon emissions, generated revenue of £5.2m in the year to the end of April, ahead of guidance of £2m. Find out more at Financial Times
Programme to boost West Midlands manufacturing SMEs launched
MTC Training, the training wing of the Coventry-based Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), has secured funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority to deliver a new training course that will improve the efficiency of manufacturing businesses across the region.
The Skills Bootcamp Manufacturing Efficiency programme, supported by Lloyds Bank, aims to help managers and leaders looking to upskill and optimise their organisation’s processes and output with its combination of face-to-face training, self-study and online and remote learning. Siemens supports Indivior with automated plant in Hull
Global pharmaceutical manufacturer, Indivior, has extended its partnership with Siemens with a new agreement to help create an automated Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing facility at its UK base in Hull.

AMS receives Innovate UK funding to further aerospace recycling for Additive Manufacturing
The ‘Recycling and Reuse of Aerospace Materials for Additive Manufacturing’ (R2AM2) project from Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), Burscough, West Lancashire, UK, has received funding from Innovate UK to explore the potential for recycling parts into feedstock for metal Additive Manufacturing as well as the processability and final part performance of recycled AM production.
