Deterioration of national road infrastructure hindering logistics, say 54% of manufacturers

Over half of Britain’s manufacturers say the national road infrastructure has deteriorated over the last 10 years, resulting in increased logistics costs and increased difficulty around labour mobility and access to skills, a new report from Make UK has revealed. More via The Manufacturer

Goodfish Group acquires Schneider Electric’s Flint extrusion and assembly business

Goodfish Group has reached agreement with Schneider Electric to acquire the latter’s UK extrusion and assembly business at Flint.

Once completed (expected to be October 2024), the business will operate as Goodfish (Flint) Limited, alongside its other manufacturing businesses in St Asaph, Cannock and Worcester. More via The Manufacturer

A photograph has surfaced of a stunning lost Edinburgh factory, leaving locals puzzled as to why it was ever demolished.

The Chancelot Flour Mill, with its design akin to a French chateau, stood tall in the Bonnington area of the capital for nearly 70 years.

This iconic factory, recognised across the north of the city for its striking clock tower, provided employment for hundreds at its height. More via Edinburgh Live

British H2 truck manufacturer HVS partners with Hybot from China

The British manufacturer of fuel cell trucks Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has agreed a strategic cooperation with the Chinese H2 truck manufacturer Hybot to promote the use of hydrogen trucks in Europe. More via electrive

Airport enterprise zone move fuels growth for industrial chimney manufacturer

Willis and Thornley, manufacturer of industrial chimneys and flues, has moved into a 20,000 sq ft unit Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone.

Previously based at Cowley Road, the company has moved into the Pioneer House industrial unit formerly occupied by Lebus Engineers. More via Lancashire Business View

New BPF Vice President Martin Hitchin supports calls for greater manufacturing circularity within plastics industry

REHAU’s Chief Executive of the UK and Ireland, Martin Hitchin, has supported the British Plastics Federation’s (BPF) call for a greater utilisation of the opportunities offered by the plastics industry regarding sustainability, especially on promoting greater circularity within manufacturing. New jobs in pipeline as pioneering new firm moves into Torbay

A pioneering medical equipment firm is moving to a new base in South Devon opening the door for expansion and new jobs.
