Bentley breaks ground on new launch quality centre and engineering technical centre

Bentley Motors has taken the next step on its journey to become the world’s most sustainable luxury automotive manufacturer with a ground-breaking ceremony for its new Launch Quality Centre and Engineering Technical Centre.

The new facility at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, will be integral to the brand’s preparations for future Battery-Powered Electric Vehicle (BEV) production and to set a new benchmark in next generation, digital, flexible and high-value manufacturing operations. New Leonardo advanced military technology research site to bring over 200 jobs to Newcastle

Defence and security firm Leonardo has announced that it is investing in a new high-technology science and engineering facility on Newcastle Helix, a ground-breaking 24-acre city centre development that brings together industry leaders, businesses, and top researchers into an internationally renowned innovation cluster.

Leonardo expects to employ over 200 people at the new site, generating over £185m of economic benefit in the region over the next 10 years. Read more via The Manufacturer

E-bike and scooter firm Beryl secures £2m for new Dorset factory

E-bike and e-scooter firm Beryl has secured £2m to develop a new factory in Dorset.

The firm, which operates hire schemes in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, is looking to begin work on the manufacturing hub in Poole later this year.

It added that its plans, which have received the boost from Midlands-based finance firm Frontier Development Capital (FDC), would help it to create jobs and apprenticeships. Read more via Business Live

IFF agrees $220m sale of UK-based Flavour Specialty Ingredients to Exponent

IFF has agreed to offload its UK-based Flavour Specialty Ingredients (FSI) division to private equity firm Exponent in a $220m (£183.6m) deal.

FSI is a manufacturer of synthetic and natural base aroma chemicals used by the food and drink industry, as well as other sectors.

The proposed sale includes four dedicated manufacturing and distribution facilities in Teesside and Hartlepool in the UK, US and China, as well as additional distribution centres in Mexico, Brazil and Hong Kong. Read more via The Grocer

Over £27m invested in small businesses following successful clean technology support programme

The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) has celebrated as 8 high potential start-ups and SMEs graduate from the latest cohort of its Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP).

Businesses from the fifth funding cohort of cutting-edge technology developers have raised an extra £27m of investment into 11 exciting small businesses – in just 17 months. Read more via The Manufacturer

Eight-figure contract success for workwear manufacturer

The Preston-based UK arm of a European workwear manufacturer has been awarded preferred bidder status onto the National Healthcare Uniform Framework.

Under the eight-figure contract Alsico will be responsible for providing a new standardised approach to clinical uniforms across England.

The new partnership has been awarded after a two-year consultive tender process that saw uniform providers across the globe vying for the five-year contract. Read more via Insider Media

Northumberland engineering and construction firm expands following record year

Northumberland headquartered Merit, an offsite engineering and construction specialist for technically complex, zero-carbon emission buildings, has today announced its financial results for the year ending June 30, 2022.

A record year saw overall revenues climb by 44 per cent to £60,220,482 and EBITDA rise by 374 per cent to £4,570,521 following a string of major project wins and completions and the use of its proprietary platform design and increases in productivity. Read more via Bdaily News
