Steel manufacturing giant’s UK arm hails ‘very successful year’

The West Midlands-based UK arm of one of the largest steel manufacturers in the world has hailed a “very successful year” in which pre-tax profits held steady, although turnover dipped.

Based in the West Midlands since its incorporation in 1928, Austrian-owned Voestalpine Metsec has reported a turnover of £114m for the year to 31 March 2024, up from £137.2m in 2023. More via Insider

Fujifilm Diosynth opens UK microbial manufacturing facility

Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has opened a microbial fermentation manufacturing facility in Billingham.

This new facility triples existing microbial production throughput by adding a new production line equipped with 2 x 4000L fermenters, a primary separations suite and a modular purification suite. More via Contract Pharma
