Women in Manufacturing: Changing Perceptions 2024
The Manufacturer’s Molly Cooper recently attended the second Women in Manufacturing: Changing Perceptions event at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry. The initiative was formed in 2022 and the first event in 2023, growing year-on-year. Attendance this year was at a all time high; over 100 attendees more than 2023. Boeing has completed the first flight of the UK’s E-7 Wedgetail for the Royal Air Force (RAF).

The largest number of young people ever are now studying at University Technical Colleges, enrolment figures for the 44-strong network of technical education schools have revealed. More via The Manufacturer
Dulux owner AkzoNobel to cut 2,000 jobs worldwide
The paint manufacturer behind Dulux is to cut about 2,000 jobs worldwide in a bid to slash costs.
AkzoNobel said that it planned to complete a programme of redundancies by the end of 2025 to make its operations more efficient. More via The Guardian
‘Carbon-eating’ building materials research set to advance sustainable construction
A team of scientists, led by Dr Mehreen Gul from Heriot-Watt University, are investigating the use of biochar as an innovative, low-carbon building material.
