Hundreds of jobs at risk at Flint wet wipe factory

Hundreds of jobs are at risk after a nappies and wet wipes manufacturer announced it is considering closing one of its sites.

Kimberly-Clark said the UK government’s deadline to remove plastic from wet wipes by mid-2026 “significantly limits” its ability to adapt its processes in time, meaning it may “no longer be viable” to keep its site running in Flint, Flintshire. More via BBC News

Silvery Tweed invests in Berwick-upon-Tweed factory

Silvery Tweed Cereals has invested in a new sieve for its Berwick-upon-Tweed factory in Northumberland which will enable it to boost the efficiency of its seed cleaning line.

The sieve has been added at the start of the company’s allergen-free seed cleaning line and will improve the overall efficacy and efficiency of the entire line as well as enhancing and improving the standards of seed cleaning, the family-owned business said. More via British Baker

South Wales manufacturer secures $1.4m US deal

An award-winning South Wales manufacturing company has secured its biggest US export deal to date worth over $1.4m, thanks to support from the Welsh Government.

Pontyclun-based Concrete Canvas, which manufactures innovative flexible concrete fabric, signed the milestone deal as part of its wider expansion in the US, which includes lining canal networks across the West Coast. More via The Manufacturer

Nestlé continues progress with scaling-up Income Accelerator scheme for cocoa communities

A key sustainability milestone for Nestlé has been delivered as its UK manufacturing facilities are set to feature cocoa sourced through its Income Accelerator programme supporting farmers in its core supply chains, including in West Africa, writes Neill Barston.

BAE Systems’ donations to navy charity reach £1m milestone
