Britvic shareholders approve £3.3bn Carlsberg takeover

Britvic shareholders have approved a takeover deal worth £3.3bn by Danish brewer Carlsberg.

Voting at a meeting yesterday (either in person or by proxy), 83% of Britvic shareholders voted in favour of the deal. More via The Manufacturer

Locit boosts production efficiency after digital design technology and skills investment

Locit, a leading manufacturer of steel lockers, has doubled capacity and cut waste by 60% after investing in cutting edge digital design technology and skills.

The company, based in Deeside, has been able to achieve this by integrating a suite of software including Radan, SolidWorks and 3D AutoCAD to its advanced manufacturing processes. More via The Manufacturer

JLR aiming to increase driver understanding of ADAS systems

UK car manufacturer JLR is driving ahead with an initiative to increase driver awareness of critical advanced driving assistance (ADAS) systems, after its survey found many drivers are not clear about the technologies. More via JLR

Industrial decarbonisation milestone reached as challenge completes

The Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC), delivered by Innovate UK and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), concludes after five years.

Can the new UK government really influence Britain’s levels of e-waste

The UK government has been falling behind on climate action and missing targets on environmental policies. This resulted in Lord Deben, past chair of the Climate Change Committee, declaring the current situation “utterly unacceptable”.

Triumph named Manufacturer of the Year at MCN awards

The annual Motorcycle News awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the UK’s motorcycle industry, and Triumph was highly recognized in 2024, including being named Manufacturer of the Year.

The publication also awarded the Speed 400 as the General Motorcycle of the Year, with the judges describing it as ‘a middleweight bike that’s made a big impact, charming new riders and experienced bikers alike’. Bradford-headquartered manufacturer acquired out of administration

Thomas Wright/Thorite Group Limited, a Bradford-headquartered manufacturing company that has been trading since 1850, has been acquired out of administration in a deal that saves all 105 jobs at the firm.

Flowtech Fluidpower plc, a specialist technical provider of fluid power and motion control products and engineering services, acquired the business and certain assets of the company from Interpath Advisory, immediately upon their appointment as administrators. More via Business Sale Report
