Family Business United continues to look for innovative ways to champion the family business sector and is now on the search for the Family Business Apprentice of the Year 2015.
Providing practical on-the-job experience while working towards a qualification, apprentices are seen by many as the future for many sectors of the UK economy, especially engineering and manufacturing.
The award seeks to identify an outstanding individual that embodies the role and more-than-makes a contribution to the firm providing them with the opportunity.
Charlie Mullins OBE, founder and managing director of Pimlico Plumbers explained: “In 2009, and as a former apprentice, I realised that we were going nowhere in generating a future workforce for our industry and more particularly creating apprenticeships for people to become qualified to be that workforce.”
Since then he has championed the cause for apprentices across the UK and really helped stimulate the creation of many more apprenticeships across the UK. Not only that, Pimlico Plumbers invest significantly in their own apprentices as the future workforce of their business.
Family Business United is on the look-out for apprentices working in family firms across the UK. If you have an apprentice working for you who goes ‘above and beyond’ your expectations then nominate them for the title.
The awards are free to enter and nominations are open until March 31. The judging panel will then deliberate before identifying a shortlist. All of those shortlisted will then be in the running for the Family Business Apprentice of the Year title 2015.
Details of the judges will be announced in due course, but to receive the nomination form email: [email protected]
All submissions will be acknowledged and the team at Family Business United will be in touch with details of those shortlisted in due course.
The award will culminate in an event towards the summer to recognise the contribution apprentices make to family firms and announce the winner.
