Leading glass manufacturer, Encirc, has picked up two prestigious industry awards at this year’s Glass Focus 2016 event in Edinburgh.
Encirc impressed the judges with its ongoing commitments to research, development and sustainability, winning in both the Improvement through Innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility categories.
The Glass Focus conference and awards dinner – hosted by trade body, British Glass – showcases the year’s most impressive achievements from within the UK’s glass industry.
Encirc was commended for its various initiatives that have allowed it to develop as an environmentally responsible company. The judges also praised the success of the Encirc Academy, an innovative service that offers bespoke technical and service assistance packages for others in the industry.
Since its launch in 2015, Academy team members have travelled to eight different countries, helping the global glass sector increase efficiency and quality, and streamline costs.
Fiacre O’Donnell, head of strategic development at Encirc, commented: “Innovation and corporate responsibility are core focuses of our business and these two awards are testament to the great work continually being carried out by everyone at Encirc.
“Despite our strong growth, we’ve been able to shrink our carbon footprint significantly, leading the way for the rest of the industry.”
Over the past 18 years, the manufacturer has grown from a single greenfield glass manufacturing plant in Derrylin, Northern Ireland, into a business producing nearly a third of the UK’s container glass.
As a result, Encirc now offers customers a full-service offering which includes glass packaging production, beverage filling, and access to Europe’s largest bonded warehouse and logistics services from a single source.
