Driving growth through collaboration: A winning formula for UK manufacturing and engineering events

Posted on 7 Apr 2025 by The Manufacturer

Following a successful partnership in 2023/24, Messe Frankfurt UK, Nineteen Group, Rapid News Group, and Mark Allen Exhibitions announce the renewal of their collaboration for another year.

The joint initiative will see the co-location of their premier UK manufacturing and engineering trade shows returning in June 2025.

This renewed collaboration will see Automechanika Birmingham, Design & Engineering Expo, Smart Factory Expo, Med-Tech Innovation Expo, TCT 3Sixty, Drives and Controls, Maintec and Subcon come together once again at the NEC in Birmingham. Together, these events offer a comprehensive platform that spans multiple vertical sectors, delivering unparalleled value to attendees and exhibitors alike.

In 2024, the co-located events achieved record-breaking attendance, driving significant business opportunities and sparking innovation across the sector. Visitors praised the convenience of accessing so many events with a single registration, while exhibitors benefitted from increased exposure and engagement with a diverse audience. This united approach will continue to promote collaboration, innovation, and trade in 2025.

Joanne Knowles, Event Director at Messe Frankfurt UK, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham commented: “The synergy between our group of shows offer two key benefits: visitors can explore a diverse range of solutions efficiently in one place, maximising their time, while exhibitors gain greater ROI from seamless attendee movement. We’re excited to collaborate again on delivering an exceptional experience and look forward to a successful event this June.”

Grace Gilling, Managing Director of The Manufacturer, organisers of Design & Engineering Expo, Smart Factory Expo, Drives & Controls and Maintec explains: “Over the past two years, we proved the power of collaboration. Manufacturing and engineering are built on continuous improvement and resilience, and these events epitomize that spirit. Together, we have created a platform that not only addressed challenges but also inspires innovation and growth. We look forward to building on this success in 2025, delivering even more value to our communities.”

Graham Johnson, Head of the MA Innovation Division at Mark Allen Group, organisers of Subcon, adds: “Subcon has been the cornerstone of the UK’s subcontract manufacturing supply chain for nearly 50 years, and this year, the show is set to be almost 20% larger than the already expanded 2024 event. This partnership – working alongside all of these other great shows – allows us to highlight even more of the cutting-edge capabilities of the manufacturing sector. By uniting, we can create a more powerful platform for innovation, enable meaningful connections, and accelerate the progress of the industry.”

Duncan Wood, Chief Executive at Rapid News Group, organisers of TCT 3Sixty, the event for 3D printing and additive intelligence and Med-Tech innovation Expo, the UK’s leading medical device design and manufacturing technology event – agrees: “Cross-sector collaboration is key to accelerating advancements. Bringing these communities together under one roof enables knowledge sharing, facilitates new business opportunities, and supports the development of next-generation solutions that push the industry forward.”

The co-located events will return to the NEC Birmingham in June 2025, promising another
exceptional experience for the UK manufacturing and engineering sector.
