A new battery manufacturing facility in China has utilised a range of pipework from Durapipe UK as an integral element of its manufacturing process.
The facility has been constructed for B.B. Battery, a manufacturer and supplier of lead acid batteries, by Chloride Technical and Trading Limited, a supplier of equipment and machinery for the lead acid battery industry.
Tasked with the design and manufacture of the plant, Chloride Technical and Trade Limited required a pipework system to work with the slurry mixing and distribution system and turned to Durapipe UK. As a result, Durapipe PVC-U pipework in sizes up to 75mm, complete with valves and fittings, was specified for the manufacture and distribution of lead oxide slurry.
The pipework carries the slurry to a holding tank, where it is mixed with other substances to create the desired specification. It is then pumped to two filling modules where the finished product is produced.
Commenting on the pipework selection, Mike Dunn from Chloride Technical and Trading Limited, said: “I have used Durapipe UK products on previous projects so know that the systems are reliable but it was the technical back-up that was the influencing factor in the specification for the B.B Battery plant.
“There were a lot of technical issues with this project, and I needed to ensure the pipework system could cater for the substances that would be passing through it and the technical advice and support offered by Durapipe UK during the specification stage of the project was exceptional. After selecting the product, this quality of service was maintained until the project was finished; having the technical back-up to match the product quality made the difference.”
