Gilbert Toppin has resigned from his post of chief executive at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, with immediate effect.
The former Deloitte man has been in the job for almost two years, having joined in December 2007, and has overseen the revamp of the organisation from a group of regional federation to a single centralised body.
Having completed his task, EEF said Toppin now feels the time is right to seek a new challenge.
The news was broken at Brammer’s customer awards today where EEF’s head of economic policy, Lee Hopley, stood in for Toppin in a keynote address.
An EEF spokesperson thanked Toppin for his hard work and wished him well for the future. The organisation is now in the process of appointing a successor.
At Deloitte Toppin was chief operating officer for European consulting.
